POST-OPERATIVE FOLLOW-UPS

  • A sensation of traction and perception of the threads is normal.
  • It's also necessary to distinguish post-operative pain and the sensation of traction with perception of the threads.

If the first is easily controlled by the customary analgesic, the patients feel the second, which reassures them as to the effectiveness of the treatment.

A localized edema to the treated areas is frequent, but usually moderate.

It is sometimes associated to bruises or hematoma.

They are spontaneously resorbed in a few days and are easily concealed by makeup.

A transitory effect of a triangular crease linked to the traction, sometimes very pronounced, obligates us to advise two to five days of social seclusion, in the case of excessive ptosis, or if several areas are treated simultaneously.

RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS

All surgical operations have risks, even if there is a time of reflection to set up the indications, the specialist takes a maximum of precautions, and has a good surgical address to practice.

It's the specialist's responsibility to inform you of the complications that can reasonably occur.

  • An asymmetry or an insufficient result is always possible, requiring a second treatment.
  • A crease or a dimple can be seen transitorily. In case of persistence a manual treatment or an injection with a filler product can correct this.
  • The extrusion of a thread or its visibility can lead to its partial severing or its removal.
  • A fibro cicatricial string on the path of the thread can be perceived, it spontaneously diminishes in a few weeks.
  • Prolonged paresthesias (tingling sensation) may occur, but are not very troublesome considering the results, they disappear in the medium term.
  • A lesion of anatomical elements situated in the treated area is always envisaged: nervous, vascular, muscular (hematoma), but they are exceptional. However, mastery of the technique makes these complications unlikely.

Infection is rare if the rules of asepsis are observed. These setbacks can be easily corrected. To this day, no permanent after-effects have been reported.
